June 7th--Trinity Sunday/Peace with Justice Sunday
Today’s Meditation Verse: "Bring me a worm that can comprehend a man, and then I will show you a man that can comprehend the Triune God.” - John Wesley
Welcome—Pastor Charles
Call to Worship—Pastor Charles (Leader) and Rebecca Glancy (People)
(Congregation is encouraged to read People’s response aloud on mute setting.)
Leader: Holy, Holy, Holy, Merciful, Eternal, and Mighty, by Your grace You have shown us who You are, One in Three, and Three in One.
People: We glorify You as Trinity, even as we worship You in Your Unity.
Leader: Open our hearts to receive Your word to us today...
People: ... that not only in our worship but in our lives we may serve and reflect Your Triune Love all our days. Amen. --Adapted from John Wesley’s Sunday Service (1784)
Call to Reconciliation (From The UMC General Board of Discipleship)—Rebecca Glancy
The Creator gave us authority over all that was good, and we have fallen short. We are invited to turn to God and ask for forgiveness.
Unison Prayer for Forgiveness--Rebecca Glancy (Congregation is encouraged to read aloud on mute setting.)
God of justice and peace, We know that You created us in the diversity of Your image but still we refuse to see You reflected in the face of our neighbor who lacks adequate health care, experiences hunger, doesn’t have a home. We don’t see Your image in the face of our neighbor who has a different skin tone, worships in a different tradition, speaks in a language we don’t understand. Forgive us for lashing out from our sense of scarcity and greed, ignorance and fear. Turn us around to be peacemakers and justice builders, recognizing the abundance and balance of Your garden.
Words of Assurance--Pastor Charles
Paul writes to the church in Corinth, “Agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you.” In our faithfulness, we know that Jesus forgives us and guides us back to the garden path.
Response (Congregation responds on mute setting): Thank You, God. Amen.

Words for the Journey—Pastor Charles
"And now, may the Lord torment you. May the Lord keep before you the faces of the hungry, the lonely, the rejected and the despised. May the Lord afflict you with pain for the hurt, the wounded, the oppressed, the abused, the victims of violence. May God grace you with agony, a burning thirst for justice and righteousness.
May the Lord give you courage and strength and compassion to make ours a better world, to make your community a better community, to make your church a better church. May you do your best to make it so; and after you have done your best, may the Lord grant you peace."
-Bishop Woodie White, closing benediction at the 1996 General Conference (Denver)
Reminder: Gifts and tithes can be sent directly to Martha Batch. This Sunday is Peace with Justice Sunday, one of the six special offerings of The United Methodist Church. Special offerings for Peace with Justice Sunday can be marked “Peace with Justice” in the memo line.
