Lenten Study opportunity

This Lenten season, you’re invited on an 8-week journey through the wilderness of gender with NextGen & Inclusiveness Ministries! Beginning February 20th, we’ll be reading “How to Understand Your Gender: A practical guide for exploring who you are” by Alex Iantaffi and Meg-John Barker alongside the devotional series “Transfigured: A 40-day journey through scripture for genderqueer and transgender people” by Suzanne DeWitt Hall. 

In our reading of the primary text, “How to Understand Your Gender,” we’ll learn the basics about gender and what it is, how it operates, and how we may or may not experience gender ourselves. We’ll deepen our spiritual relationship to gender through the devotional series “Transfigured” as the daily devotions help us move the lessons from the primary text from our heads to our hearts, encouraging us to integrate these learnings and understandings into our daily personal and spiritual lives. 

This study will last for 8-weeks from February 20th-April 10th.    

Participants will begin the reading material the week of February 20th, while Zoom sessions will take place on Mondays from February 27th-April 10th @ 6:00pm - 7:30pm. We will also use Google Classroom for optional weekly discussions to connect outside of the Zoom room. 

This study is open to all, and is specifically designed for:

• Persons seeking to understand what gender is, how the world sees gender, and how gender operates and is experienced in our own lives

• Persons seeking to gain a better understanding of their own gender

• Persons seeking to understand how our relationship to gender and ourselves can be related to our experiences of faith and spirituality.
