Lenten devotionals are available on the usher's table. Starting today and continuing through Easter, Pastor Charles will post a devotion on the blog and on our Facebook page.
Love is in the air! Claudia Mills will be leading a six-week Zoom course on love from a Christian perspective, focusing on C. S. Lewis’s classic text The Four Loves. There, Lewis explores four kinds of love—affection, friendship, erotic love, and love of God—drawing on sources from both scripture and secular literature. The course will meet Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:15 from February 16 to March 23. To join, contact Claudia.
Please visit our blog on Tuesday (Feb. 21) to view a list of area UM churches that are having Ash Wednesday activities. St. Paul's will not be holding a service on Ash Wednesday this year.
As we begin the Lenten season, the General Board of Church and Society invites you to a service to re-commit ourselves to the restorative work of justice, peace, and reconciliation. Rev. William V. Lamar, III, Senior Pastor of Metropolitan AME Church (Washington D.C.), will be offering a reflection. The Service will take place: Wednesday, February 22 @ 10:00 AM in Simpson Memorial Chapel (United Methodist Building) Washington, DC. The Service will be live online via Zoom, connect here.
This Lenten season, you’re invited on an 8-week journey through the wilderness of gender with NextGen & Inclusiveness Ministries! Beginning February 20th, we’ll be reading “How to Understand Your Gender: A practical guide for exploring who you are” by Alex Iantaffi and Meg-John Barker alongside the devotional series “Transfigured: A 40-day journey through scripture for genderqueer and transgender people.” Participants will begin the reading material the week of February 20th, while Zoom sessions will take place on Mondays from February 27th - April 10th @ 6:00pm - 7:30pm. You can register for the study at this link.
Join the fun of Lent Madness! This year's bracket is broken up into four themed quadrants: Ancient & Apostolic, Mostly Monastics, Royals Roundup, and Modern Mayhem. As always, the bracket contains well known saints along with some obscure ones. But they all inspire us by following Jesus in their own times and in their own ways. (click here to see the bracket)
