Welcome...Pastor Charles
Prelude...Hyeji Park / “Here I Am to Worship” by Tim Hu
*Call to Worship...Rebecca Glancy
In worship, we who are called “Christian” gather to express our unity with God and with each other. We are a community which spans centuries, bound together by a covenant whose signature is baptism.
We have inherited this covenant in baptism from those in ages past who bequeathed to us their faith and their faithfulness. In our worship today, we renew our commitment to live in this covenant, and we draw together a wider community of believers, including those who bore witness at our baptism. As faithful people have done for years, let us worship God.
—Touch Holiness (1990, Ruth C. Duck & Maren Tirabassi)
*Hymn...“This Is the Spirit’s Entry Now” (UMH #608)
Prayer for Baptism of the Lord (UMH #23)...Rebecca Glancy
God in heaven, at the baptism of Jesus in the River Jordan You pro-claimed Him Your beloved Son and anointed Him with the Holy Spirit. Grant that all who are baptized into His name may keep the covenant they have made, and boldly confess Him as Lord and Savior, who with You and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, One God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
