No election on the second ballot

After the certifying ballot was taken this morning (see below) 18 candidates were placed on the first ballot, which was taken at approximately 6:15 p.m. Leading was Rev. Wednesdays with the Wesleys

"I do indeed rejoice in my sons ... You’ll pardon the fondness of a mother if I exceed in commending them, but I’ve known few (if any) that have labored more diligently and unweariedly in the service of our dear Lord: and blessed be his great name, he hath set his seal to their ministry and hath made them instrumental in bringing many souls to God. And tho in the eyes of the world they appear despicable, men of no estate or figure, and daily suffer contempt, reproach, and shame among men, yet to me they appear more honorable, than they would do if the one were Archbishop of Canterbury and the other of York for I esteem the reproach of Christ greater riches, than all the treasures in England."

~ Susanna Wesley (1 July 1741 letter to the Countess of Huntingdon)

Who are the communion of saints in the Apostles Creed?

Epworth Methodist Church, Epworth, England

Every time we confess our faith using the words of the Apostles Creed, we say together:

We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.

Who is the "communion of saints" we speak of in this ancient Christian creed?

Prayer for All Saints Day

All Saints Day (1911) - Wassily Kandinsky

Grant, almighty God, that all who confess Your name may be united in Your truth, live together in Your love, and reveal Your glory in the world. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayerSilent prayer.

Guide the people of this land, and of all the nations, nin the ways of justice and peace; that we may honor one another and serve the common good. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayerSilent prayer.

Give us all a reverence for the earth as Your own creation, that we may use its resources rightly in the service of others and to your honor and glory. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayerSilent prayer.

Bless all whose lives are closely linked with ours, and grant that we may serve Christ in them, and love one another as Christ loves us. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayerSilent prayer.

Comfort and heal all those who suffer in body, mind, or spirit; give them courage and hope in their troubles, and bring them the joy of your salvation. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayerSilent prayer.

We commend to Your mercy all who have died, that Your will for them may be fulfilled; and we pray that we may share with all Your saints in Your eternal kingdom. Lord, in Your mercy, hear our prayerSilent prayer.
