August 9 @ St. Paul's UMC: Prayers

Joys:
+Today is National Book Lovers Day - blessings on Claudia M., Diane M., Larry E. (in our congregation) and all the authors who share their gifts with us.
+The virtual Ladies Summer Book Group concluded its summer run last Thursday. Reading and sharing about the Rev. Nadia Bolz-Webber's book, Pastrix, was a wonderful experience.
+Rebecca G. is finishing up a grant proposal to NASA to support STEMrev.
+The Richardson's are celebrating their 40th anniversary today.
+The Matthew's are celebrating their 45th anniversary next Saturday.
+Skippy R. reports that Joyce B. is recovering from surgery.
+The Owen's enjoyed an outing with their grandchildren in Golden this weekend and time with their son.
+The Bishop's are back together following a trip to Texas.
+Sally O. offers thanks that her daughter-in-law has a new job in Breckenridge.

Concerns:
+The World Council of Churches (WCC) invites all people of good will to observe, on 9 August, a Sunday of Prayer for the Peaceful Reunification of the Korean Peninsula.
+Prayers for peace among the nations as the 75th anniversaries of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima (Aug. 6) and Nagasaki (Aug. 9) are observed.
+Prayers for the people of Lebanon following the explosions in Beirut last week and the unrest that followed.
+Prayers are asked for Steve B.'s parents during this time of change in their life
+Prayers for Marion Baker, wife of the Rev. Monte Baker, pastor of Olathe (CO) UMC who is experiencing health issues.
+Prayers for the family of Barbara Elliott. She died on July 29. She was the spouse of retired clergy, the Rev. Kent Elliott, who served Legacy Yellowstone Conference for 21 years.
+Please pray for the family of the Rev. Wallace (Dale) Lovett, who passed away June 27. He served the Legacy Rocky Mountain Conference for 43 years.
+Those who are dealing with the impact of the pandemic including those facing health concerns, economic anxiety, or other disruptions of life. 
+Lifting up in prayers those affected by the pervasive nature of racism in our society.
