Did you know that John Wesley began writing, what became his published Journal on this day in 1735 ?

Wesley began his Journal in part to record his journey to the colony of Georgia. In the first paragraph he describes his reasons for travelling as follows:

"Our end in leaving our native country was not to avoid want (God having given us plenty of temporal blessings) nor to gain the dung or dross of riches or honour; but singly this - to save our souls; to live wholly to the glory of God".
