On this date in 1790, John Wesley (then 87) preached his last outdoor sermon at Winchelsea, East Sussex.
The print, which is mid-1800s, depicts the scene. The label shown here explains that the piece of wood is from the tree that Wesley preached under that day. It is written by the Rev. F. Rabey, who was a minister in Winchelsea from 1901 – 1939.
