Devotional for the First Sunday in Lent

Nail cross

"Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."

Psalm 4:1 BRG Bible (Blue, Red, Gold)

~ ~ ~

“Prayer must not be self-centered. It must arise not only because we feel our own need as a burden we must lay upon God, but also because we are so bound up in love for our fellow men that we feel their need as acutely as our own. To make intercession for men is the most powerful and practical way in which we can express  our love for them.”

 John Calvin

Luke in 40 Days: Rest

The readings from the gospel according to Luke began on Ash Wednesday and continue until Holy Saturday and allows us to read the entire gospel account. Today, you may want to reread text that tugged at you this week or focus on passages used in worship.
