Summer Book Group is coming to St. Paul's

Thursday, June 8, 3:00-4:30 p.m. --
I propose we have an organizational Zoom meeting to select which book we will discuss this summer and confirm details about our meeting schedule. (For example, do we want to continue the trend of meeting virtually? Do we want to continue meeting Thursday afternoons, 3:00-4:30 p.m.? Do we want to begin the discussion on Thursday, June 22?).

Book Suggestions (to date):

Find the Good: Unexpected Life Lessons from a Small-Town Obituary Writer by Heather Lende (One reviewer called her a cross between Annie Dillard and Anne Lamott.)

Just Like Jesus by Max Lucado (Author reminds us that being just like Jesus feels like an impossible goal until we accept one simple truth: God loves us.)

The Girl with Seven Names: Escape from North Korea by Hyeonseo Lee

Home to Harmony by Philip Gulley. (Author “draws us into the charming world of a minister in his first year back in his hometown, capturing the essence of small-town life with humor and wisdom.”)

Grateful: The Subversive Practice of Giving Thanks by Diana Butler Bass. (Book about feeling and expressing gratitude.)

Good Enough by Kate Bowler. (Short devotionals showing us that we don't have to be perfect; good enough is fine.)

When Strivings Cease: Replacing the Gospel of Self-Improvement with the Gospel of Life-Transforming Grace by Ruth Chou Simons. (A journey to find freedom from the never-ending quest for self-improvement.)

And other suggestions are welcome, too!

Every blessing,

Belinda
