Updates from the General Council on Finance and Administration (GCFA)

There are close to 30,000 churches staying United Methodist throughout the global connection. The UMC will continue to be one of the largest denominations in the world, represented in 130 different countries.

The GCFA has been compiling statisticss on the dissafiliations taking place in the UMC. These have been updated monthly with the most recent as of April 14th. If you go to page 5, it shows the numbers of churches, while page 6 shows the percentages. As of April, it has been 6.9% of churches, 6.8% of professing members, and 3.2% of attendance. It is broken down by conference and by jurisdiction. They have been updating these as special called conferences have been held each month. Needless to say, these stats are a far cry from the narrative often being presented by those seeking to disaffiliate.
