St. Paul's UMC has suspended gathering for worship on the following Sundays: March 15, 22, and 29. The church building will also be closed from March 15 - 31 for all gatherings, with the exception of funerals. This does not affect groups not affiliated with St. Paul’s UMC.
This has not been an easy decision and is certainly unprecedented as we find ourselves in uncharted waters. Our rationale is grounded in our common Wesleyan value of "do no harm" and our value of what it means to be community with one another. Christian community has a sacred responsibility to always be mindful of "the least of these" and to make decisions for the health and well-being of every part of the Body.
Our decision is also based upon the recommendations of the CDC for higher-risk populations during periods of moderate transmission of COVID-19, and we are following the lead of the University of Colorado and our local school district. We will provide an online worship opportunity each Sunday morning.
Continue to stay tuned to our Facebook page, website, blog, YouTube channel, and emails to stay up-to-date on how best to remain connected to our faith community during this season. We will keep you informed as to any future decisions beyond March 31. Let us hold each other in prayer during a time of unprecedented change, as all of us seek to remain connected to God, to follow God’s wisdom, and to experience the comfort of Christ’s presence.
