Summer Book Group is ready to launch!

Grace and Peace!

Nine of us met for an organizational Zoom meeting this afternoon. (A screenshot of us on Zoom is attached to this email.) We unanimously chose the book for this summer's book discussion. (Note: All the books we considered are listed in the Word document attached to this email. We agreed that it is a great list of books. Some of us plan to read some of them on the list! Thank you to everyone who proposed a book!)

Selected Book:
Find the Good: Unexpected Life Lessons from a Small-Town Obituary Writer by Heather Lende. (One reviewer called the author a cross between Annie Dillard and Anne Lamott.) The book has 18 chapters, so we plan to discuss two chapters each week. We decided to continue with our previously established practice of meeting Thursday afternoons on Zoom, 3:00-4:30 p.m. You can click on the blue-inked title of the book (above), and then you will see how to order the book from Amazon.

Our first Zoom discussion will be Thursday, June 22, starting at 3:00 p.m. We will discuss chapters one and two for the first hour. And in the last 30 minutes, we will have our "weather reports." (An opportunity for folks to share what is happening in their lives -- if they want to share. No one should feel obligated to share!)

The Zoom link is the same for all our gatherings this summer. It is listed below. (I will send an email to everyone the day before each weekly gathering and include this Zoom link information -- as a reminder to the next day's Zoom gathering ... and ... as a quick way for you to access the Zoom link each week.)

Claudia Mills and I are co-hosting this year's summer book club discussion. Any questions about it can be directed to either one of us.

Every blessing,
Belinda Alkula
