Today in Methodist history

On 6 June 1742 John Wesley was banned from preaching at St. Andrew’s Church in Epworth where his father had been rector for nearly 40 years. His unique solution was to preach standing on his father's tomb in the graveyard. His text was "The kingdom of heaven is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” (Romans 14:17)
