UMH #246
I have always loved Christmas: the lights, the songs, the smells and the cookies! When I became a believer at 40, I joined a Bible study. My first believing Christmas, I walked into the church where the Bible study met. There was a full-size manger sitting in front of the altar. It was rough wood, with straw in and around it. I was brought to tears that the Savior of the world was born into such poverty.
Yet I chose “Joy to the World” because of the joy He has given me every day since I accepted His gift, lowly manger and all. I sing “Joy to the World” because no matter how dark the times, Jesus is my joy.
