Inclusiveness III Conference

Belinda and Pastor Charles joined hundreds of other United Methodists from across the Conference today for the Inclusiveness III Conference at St. Andrews UMC in Highlands Ranch. Various visions of how to achieve inclusiveness in The United Methodist Church were discussed today at the Inclusiveness III Conference at St. Andrews UMC, Highlands Ranch.

Rev. Dr. Mark Holland, Executive Director of Mainstream UMC, provided the keynote address, examining various plans being presented at the upcoming General Conference in 2020. During Holland's workshop, Rev. Darren Cushman, was a special guest, advocating the Indianapolis Plan, which encourages a denominational schism. Opportunities were provided for participants to examine different alternatives and approaches.

Bishop Karen Oliveto of the Mountain Sky Conference shared her vision and the direction that is being advanced in the Western Jurisdiction. Conference delegates and local church leaders also shared their perspectives and plans. Pastoral counselor specialist, Dr. Joretta Marshall, Brite School of Theology, shared her expertise on resistance and resilience in the life of the church.

"At this 'kairos' moment in the life of the church," said the Rev. Dr. Messer, "the United Methodist Association of Retired Clergy & Friends seeks to provide a forum of education and inspiration that will encourage our local and conference leaders to embrace a vision of inclusiveness as old as the Gospel and as new as the movement of the Holy Spirit in contemporary culture."
