Devotional for the Second Sunday of Advent

It was a memorable holiday [Christmas 1987]. We had been living in our house just over a year. Diane’s family visited, including her sister Carolyn, her brother Lee’s wife Elaine, and her brother Glenn’s wife Vicki. We referred to it as an “infestation of aunts.” Diane’s uncle Boyd drove many around in the unexpectedly deep snow. I received excellent cold weather gifts: a bulky red wool sweater and a rabbit fur cap. The pullover is long worn out, but I still wear the cap. How appropriate for that cold and snowy weather!

The warmth of our families together was confirmed by the warm clothing and the warm memories. Truly, we had abundant Christmas gifts.
