Devotional for December 15

Alpha & Omega (with Chi Rho)

In Revelations 21:6 we read that Jesus is the Alpha and Omega—the beginning and the end. When I celebrate His birthday at Christmas every year, I remember that Christmas was just the beginning of His earthly life. As John 1:2-3 tells us, He was with God in the beginning of all life.

When I reflect on my relationship with Jesus, I realize that Jesus being the Alpha and Omega means more to me than that He is eternal. I have come to trust Him more and more over the years because He has always been there for me. I look back on my life and see that very day He has been there in the beginning of every situation, waiting for me, smoothing the way, having a solution ready, taking care of the details often before I even know there are details that need taking care of. He is there at the end, when the situation has been resolved, reminding me that He cares for me. At the beginning of each day, when I take time to turn control of it over to Him, I can trust that at the end of the day I will be thanking and praising Him for His provision and protection. I am overwhelmed by how much He loves me.

Jesus is my Alpha and Omega, the beginning and end of every day and every situation I find myself in. I look forward to spending eternity thanking and praising Him with all the hosts of heaven.
