Celebration Sunday!

We love to share fellowship time

 Second Sunday of Advent

Today’s Meditation Verse: “I offer my life to You, Lord. My God, I trust You.”
—Psalm 24:1-2a

Welcome... Pastor Charles

Prelude... Lorie Courier / “While By My Sheep”

Lighting the Advent Candle... Louise Cook & Judy Waller

One: Joseph must decide what to do. Light first candle. One candle in the darkness doesn’t offer much light. And with a promise to act comes responsibility to respond. Taking a risk in a threatening world goes against our need to run and hide.
Two: Poor Joseph, caught in a dilemma. Do what society expects and distance himself from what might appear scandalous, or stick by the frail child facing pregnancy. What will his choice be?
One: “Mary, I’m here. We’ll go through this together.” A second candle now flickers in the darkness.
Light the second candle on the Advent wreath
Prayer: It takes courage, O God, to stand with those who would do Your work. May we find strength to offer our support to Your good news. Amen.
—Before the Amen, Maren Tirabassi & Maria Tirabassi, 2007

*Hymn... “Watchmen, Tell Us of the Night” (Handout)

Canticle of Light & Darkness (UMH #205—Read in unison with no refrain)...    Bob Muckle

*Offering/Doxology (To the tune of “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel”)
Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Praise God all creatures here below.
Praise God above ye heavenly hosts.
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel shall come to thee, O Israel.
