A homemade item in my nativity display is a handcrafted baby Jesus. Our grandson Brandon was born November 15. Having a three-year-old sister who was very interested in babies, his mother and sister crafted Baby Jesus in his bed as stocking stuffers for Christmas. The homemade gift was a vine circle with straw in the center. An appropriate swaddle of cloth with a bead face, carefully placed on the straw, completed the replica of the manger scene. Each year I recall the excitement of a birth in our family as I place Baby Jesus in the proper place of my creche. This brings to life the birth of our Savior.
