Hebrews 12:2 (Revised Geneva Bible) “…looking to Jesus—the Author and Finisher of our faith—who, for the joy that was set before Him, endured the cross and despised the shame and is set at the right hand of the throne of God.”
An author does not necessarily have to write their beliefs down but has ownership and passes them to other people to consider and act upon them. Jesus fits this description through his actions and devotion and faith in God. He passed it on to any who would listen and follow him. He served as an example to follow. They in turn passed this on in a similar way. This immediately brought to mind my mother who raised my siblings and me. Both my parents had lived through the Great Depression as young people struggling to live and make their way. Faith was a stable guide.
My mother, as another author and guide, instilled it into all of us. She passed her values of compassion, loyalty, responsibility, and faith to us and others. She made sure we had an opportunity to learn about faith in the small community church in Kremmling from the time we were very young until we all spread our wings and left. Her teachings have stayed with each one of us throughout our lives and shaped who we became. If I had to choose anyone with whom I could have a conversation, it would be with her to make sure we are living her teachings and passing them on to our children and their children.
